Some property owners hire us just to place a good tenant, and then manage the property themselves. While this works for some landlords, it’s definitely not for everyone.
Watch Jenn share how one owner discovered self managing wasn’t for him:
To thrive as a self-managing landlord, you need to have a few things:
- The time to perform the work. From tenant screening to maintenance repairs, there are dozens of tasks involved in managing a rental property that require your time and organization.
- The dedication and availability to respond to emergencies. Emergencies like a burst water heater cannot wait, even if the call comes in at 3am in the morning.
- The temperament to work successfully with tenants. Are you be able to work effectively with irate or even unreasonable tenants?
